Jef Raskin
Bye Jef. I never knew you, and I don’t think you ever heard of me, but I’d have liked to meet you. Now I guess I never will. That’s a shame. Jef Raskin was the man behind the Macintosh. In … Continue reading

Comments, again
Sorry folks. It seems that I’ve lost lots of comments in the (several thousand) blogspams I’ve had over the last couple of months. Sorry :( I’ve resurrected them now, so if your comment disappeared, it’s back again from the Land … Continue reading

He Said, She Said
I hate this. I’m being kicked out of my flat. I’m being kicked out, in fact, by an unemployable, rudderless little fuckhead named Neil. Neil Simmons. If you ever meet him, punch him in the face for me. The reason … Continue reading

Sick
I’m ill. Me and my bed are very very ill. We shiver and twitch and cough. I called in sick today. My boss sounded shocked. I don’t know why. If any of the work folks read this, maybe you could … Continue reading

I had a Mac mini
…but it’s disappeared. Oh, it’s still there, I think; something is certainly running Garageband and playing DVDs, but I can’t see where it’s coming from. This computer is seriously small and really surprisingly quick.

We’re number one
We hit number one in the Google ranking for Bush twunt. Perfect Duluth Day is at the bottom of page one for ‘twunt’. Not quite worked out how the anti-metaspamming stuff in Google works yet. I will work it out.

Later that Same Day
Four hours later, I still couldn’t stop the scribbling. So wired my hands shake, I poke CP15 registers mindlessly, trying to track down a performance problem that frankly I don’t care about. With a clank and a stutter, I get … Continue reading
Fear and Loathing in South London
I was seven hundred metres from Southwark tube when the caffeine began to take effect. A clunky-thump to the chest, my feet acquired speed almost by themselves, I broke into a run, around and up the stairs below the blue … Continue reading
Patent hell!
Another week, another messed-up patent office. Sigh. The World Patent Office has issued a world patent, 2004/110060, to the British company Dwight Cavendish. Sadly, they really ought to know better. They suggest in this patent that it might be possible … Continue reading

More Googery
Gia has decided to BAM knock it up a notch and try and link the word twunt to the office of the Twunt in Front, the Thief in Chief, the Chimp in the Suspiciously Lumpy Jacket himself. Yes, I called … Continue reading

Sporks are bad
I’ve been thinking about user interfaces. See, I’m a Mac user. I love my Mac, I’m looking forward to getting a new one, and I love MacOS and MacOS applications. I love my Mac because it’s not a spork. Allow … Continue reading

Hang on a minute
So none of the British people who were imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay for the last five years were actually guilty of anything at all? What the fuck? I am lost for words.
You said the books I read went to my head
As well as writing a bit of book (stay tuned, folks) I’ve been reading a fair few over the last six months. The Bomb: A Life I think I’ve mentioned this one before. It’s a treatment of the birth, life … Continue reading

There’s Something About Lizzie
Most of you know by now that I love my bike. I love my bike like the Penny Arcade guy likes long words. I love my bike like the sky loves the stars, like petrol loves to burn, like the … Continue reading

I hate the USPTO
There, I’ve said it. The USPTO does not sufficiently check patent applications for prior art; its arbitration procedures are horribly over-complex and far too slow, and its lawyer-centric mechanisms are hopelessly biased in favour of large corporations. Take this for … Continue reading

Subverting the googsphere
Gia, Rob and Mark had a nice idea whick I don’t have time to implement, so I’ve reproduced Gia’s entire post here, for maximum spider impact. I’ve told loads of people about the baby jesus butt-plug (which you can actually … Continue reading
Gone Pushin’
Sorry for my unbelievably sparse blogging of late, folks. I’ve been wanting to write things but being too tired to actually write them. Sorry, Sorry, So sorry. Please don’t go away. Things I’ve been doing: Finally knocked the censored project … Continue reading
